Each Izumo fountain pen is hand coated with multiple layers of urushi, then polished to a high shine. This Akatame edition features 40 layers of vermillion lacquer followed by 40 layers of black lacquer. As a living material, the urushi finish on the Izumo Akatame will become more beautiful with time and use.
