Lee "Scratch" Perry defined dub music with his seminal 1976 Super Ape album, and he returns with New York City's Subatomic Sound System to conquer again, definitively reincarnating the magic of his Black Ark studio in Jamaica, heavy on Ethiopian horns and percussion, while reinvigorating it with the 21st century booming bass and beats that capture the energy of their innovative live electronic show. Largely known as the mentor to Bob Marley, Perry's influence has transcended reggae. Since 2010, he has toured with NYC's Subatomic Sound System, his go-to band for recreating his Black Ark studio sound live on stage, in new exciting ways as a one-of-a-kind hybrid of beat heavy electronics and live musicians, including original Black Ark studio percussionist Larry McDonald. Subatomic Sound System has been pushing the envelope of electronic music in combination with reggae since their inception in 1999. In dub, Lee "Scratch" Perry is a star at organizing and remixing the music with drum and bass in the forefront and tweaking knobs and faders, adding effects like a jazz improvisation. In the 1970s, the idea of a producer as a star, rather than a singer or musician, seemed crazy, but looking across the world of star DJ producers, he is rightly acknowledged as a visionary as well. There are many stories to be told, but this album follows on the mission of the tour which has the goal of reaching out to old fans and new fans. As sound system culture continues to expand globally with reggae and beyond, these are DJ-friendly heavyweight versions of Scratch material that makes sense in the 21st century. "Scratch" started his music career as a dancer so he loves to get a party started even at 81. The album shows that Scratch was 40 years ahead of his time with Super Ape, and that at 81, he's more relevant to youth culture than ever. The original "Burning Man", "Scratch" was called "the Salvador Dali of music" by Keith Richards and Bounty Killer hailed him as "the greatest Jamaican artist of all time". Recognizing the Hearts that Burn Within Us
Format: Paperback
Yes, Theo of Golden does, at times, border on the melodramatic and the sentimental. It can be repetitive. It can take an awfully long time to make its point. And yet, the novel speaks very significantly of the need for love, compassion, generosity and forgiveness---in a world that is not always kind, in a world where many of us carry secret burdens---where sadness (mixed with intermittent joy) might be viewed as a universal human affliction.
Theo of Golden is, overall, a book of glad tidings. An end with a future. Thoughtfully, warmly and intelligently written. A novel that often addresses the beauty of Art, most notably painting and music. A novel in which I learned what a fado is. In fact, I learned a lot from this novel.
Unlike some readers, I did not see the book as misogynistic or xenophobic. I didn't necessarily see it as "Christian fiction"---unless you mean doing good, striving for strength of spirit and understanding the connection between "the ultimate and the proximate, the wide grace and the narrow way."
Finally, I don't view the novel's conclusion as disappointing, but simply as falling action and resolution. It is, after all, a very traditionally structured work.
Kudos to the author Allen Levi for having written an initially self-published book that was later picked up by a major publishing house. That is, indeed, a rarity.

Sparkle easy tarpaper towels gets the job done

Performs as described. Not as durable as Bounty but is worth the money. It is soft. Appearance is noted with a design. The quantity is appropriate for each roll and for the price. I use for clean ups in the kitchen, light spills and clean ups. Would buy again. Have purchased many many times. Reliable and consistent company the towel tear off easily every 8” which is a great way to avoid waste especially when cooking.

I'm going back to Sparkle

I used to buy Sparkle years ago , it was the only brand I bought, but I stopped because they were lower quality than names like Bounty.
Recently, before payday I ran out of paper towels and bought this pack before payday so I didn't have to shell out $25 for paper towels.
Sparkle i can honestly say has improved immensely in quality, yet still staying reasonably priced.
I noticed as soon as I opened one roll it was better quality. They are stronger, much stronger than they used to be.
No loose lint like they used to have. They are a bit stiffer in feel compared to Bounty, but still feel soft.
Cleaning is the real test for me. The old Sparkle shredded apart as soon as I wet the towel to clean.
The new Sparkle is amazing. Gotta say I like it better than Bounty. I used it to clean the bathroom and the towels held up extremely well with being water soaked, used to scrub
(friction & pulling). They don't feel thick which i like.
Reusable? I'd dunk the towel in water, scrub then rinse the towel and wipe and it held up .
Sparkle has improved and won me over!
