Power distribution in modern data centers and IT rooms demands precision, reliability, and real-time visibility. The Eaton G3 Metered Input rack PDU delivers all three with a compact 0U footprint designed for dense 19-inch racks. This metered input PDU channels power from a robust L6-20P (C20 input) to a diverse array of outlets, providing highly accurate electrical measurements that help you optimize load balancing, capacity planning, and energy management. With a 10-foot cord and a single-phase design, it’s ideal for data centers, server rooms, edge computing deployments, and other critical environments where every watt matters and uptime is non-negotiable.

  • Metered input with billing-grade accuracy — The Eaton G3 ePDU continuously monitors input and branch circuits, delivering precise current, voltage, power, and energy data. This enables accurate chargeback, proactive capacity planning, and informed decision-making for your IT infrastructure. The data is accessible on an intuitive local LCD pixel display or transmitted over a network for centralized monitoring.
  • Compact 0U, space-saving design — Engineered to maximize rack density, this PDU fits in minimal vertical space while still delivering robust performance. Its 0U form factor leaves more room for critical equipment in high-density server racks, making it a smart choice for modern data centers where rack real estate is at a premium.
  • Versatile outlet configuration for mixed workloads — Outlets consist of 18 C13 outlets and 2 C19 outlets, supporting a broad range of servers, storage devices, networking gear, and other IT assets. This mix enables flexible power distribution for devices with different power plug types, while keeping wiring tidy and organized.
  • Reliable input and broad compatibility — With a 100-240V, 16A single-phase input, this PDU is compatible with a wide range of regional power systems. The L6-20P inlet ensures a secure, locking connection that reduces the risk of accidental disconnections, while the C20 input compatibility supports common power distribution standards in data centers worldwide.
  • Power management features for uptime and efficiency — In addition to precise metering, the PDU’s design supports load balancing and capacity planning through real-time energy data. By understanding which branches draw the most current, IT teams can optimize workloads, schedule maintenance, and improve overall energy efficiency across the rack and facility.

How to install Eaton Metered Input Rack PDU

  • Step 1 — Prepare the rack: Ensure the rack frame is clean, stable, and able to support the PDU’s weight and cable management requirements. Verify there is adequate clearance for rear access and cooling around the PDU and installed devices.
  • Step 2 — Confirm power compatibility: Check that the available electrical circuit matches the PDU’s input specifications (L6-20P, 100-240V, 16A). Ensure the circuit is protected by an appropriate overcurrent protection device per local electrical codes.
  • Step 3 — Mount the PDU: Slide the PDU into the 19-inch rack rails, aligning with mounting holes. Secure it firmly using the provided screws to minimize movement and vibration during operation.
  • Step 4 — Connect the input power: Connect the 10-foot cord to the L6-20P input and plug the other end into the appropriate power source. Ensure a snug, locked connection to prevent accidental disconnection.
  • Step 5 — Route and label outlets: Organize cables from devices into the (18) C13 and (2) C19 outlets. Label each outlet row or port to simplify future maintenance and device identification.
  • Step 6 — Power up and verify: Turn on the power source and verify that the PDU’s local LCD display powers up. Confirm that all outlets are functional and that connected devices boot normally.
  • Step 7 — Configure metering and network access: If network monitoring is required, configure the PDU’s network interface following your DCIM or monitoring platform’s guidelines. Input any necessary IP addresses, credentials, and monitoring parameters to enable remote visibility of current, voltage, power, and energy data.
  • Step 8 — Establish ongoing management: Create a routine to review metered data, set thresholds for alerts, and integrate energy data with capacity planning and reporting workflows. Regularly audit cable organization and outlet loading to maintain optimal performance and prevent overloading specific branches.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is a metered input PDU and why do I need one? A metered input PDU provides precise measurement of electrical parameters at the input and across the outlets. This enables accurate chargeback, better load balancing, enhanced capacity planning, and improved energy efficiency in data centers and IT rooms.
  • How many outlets does this PDU provide, and what outlet types are included? It features 18 C13 outlets and 2 C19 outlets, offering broad compatibility with common IT equipment such as servers, storage devices, and network gear.
  • What are the input specifications? The PDU uses an L6-20P inlet with a voltage range of 100-240V, a current rating of 16A, and it operates on a single phase. The configuration may also accommodate a C20/C20 input arrangement depending on regional models.
  • What is the maximum load the PDU can handle? The maximum load is 3.84 kW, which corresponds to the 16A rating at 240V. Always distribute power evenly across outlets to avoid overloading a single branch.
  • How does network monitoring work with this PDU? The PDU provides a local LCD display for immediate visibility and can be connected to a network for remote monitoring and integration with DCIM tools. This enables real-time insights, alerts, and historical energy data to support efficiency and uptime initiatives.

Absolutely would buy again
Color: Orange
I love this, my pup loves this. Strong, sturdy. Shakes all over the place. Pup loves to chew on it, I think the vibration comforts her gums from teething. Perfect size You must take the outer skin off and pop open the white power button to charge it. Total fun!

Rubber blue cover won't come off.
Color: Orange
If you want to keep the blue cover on that your dog chews off every other ball that is similar, get this one. Most dogs will not chew it off. It stretches when the chew on it so it can't be chewed or stretched off the ball. I've got a blind dog and she will kick it around for an hour at a time. It keeps her active and having fun.

Nice, but...
Color: Orange
It's a good idea & keeps my 1yr old Staffy/Pit occupied, BUT... The rubber around the ball is either too easy to chew through or my pup is just an aggressive chewer. Either way, it's a plus that it does come with an additional rubber, but it would be nice to also be able to buy additional ones vs having to buy the whole toy again & again! Oh, & if you think about letting them play with it without the rubber please be on the lookout for the rubber covering where you would charge it because my pup managed to locate & destroy that cover piece as well haha!

Entertains my husky!
After some research, I decided on this interactive toy for my young husky. I chose it over others because I liked that it was wrapped in a silicone cover so it wouldn't be as hard on her teeth, or my floors. It also seems to have helped with durability. She's never had this sort of automated toy before to engage with and it surprised her at first, but then she really got into it: pawing and nosing and sometimes howling at it. I was worried it would drive her and/or me crazy, but so far so good. She will play with it for a good 10 minutes at a time and it seems to provide some good mental stimulation since it rolls and spins unpredictably. It is easy to charge and was ready to use right out of the box. It has proved durable in the first week surviving my crazy pup and multiple trips down the stairs. I am also happy to report that it has worked pretty well on the carpet/rug areas of the home. It should work pretty well unless you have a very thick shag carpet. We'll see how long it lasts, but highly recommend so far.
