Marbled pottery, also referred to sometimes as agateware, has ancient roots, going all the way back to the Roman Empire (1st century BC to the 5th century AD).  Examples of marbled ware can also be found in pottery of the Tang Dynasty in China, (618-907 AD) the Persians, (9th to 13th centuries AD) and in 18th century Europe it gained wide popularity when taken to new heights by Josiah Wedgewood.  Simply put, marbleware uses a technique of combining contrasting colors of clay together, with the natural movement of each clay color creating a flowing pattern that is reminiscent of marble.  There are an infinite number of patterns that can be created this way, and no two pieces will ever be exactly the same.

I've done my marbled work pots in the simplest manner, just using equal amounts of white and red clay, to throw on the wheel into the most utilitarian of English garden pots.  The pattern that emerges will be a function of how the 2 halves were positioned on the wheel as to the exact pattern, or the prominence of one color over another.  I love the natural and spontaneous way in which the pattern evolves, and they make very handsome pots for herbs or succulents.

We're offering these in sets of 4, with either a copper tray or a galvanized, white patina tray.  Both trays are waterproof, and are perfect for arranging your pots on the kitchen windowsill or some other sunny spot.  Our photos show these pots sitting on a colorful bed of fine pebbles, but the rocks are not included.

Although fired to 2100° F, these pots still have some porosity, the color of the pots will change after some time, gaining a patina of age which is determined by the minerals in your water and soil, and how much sunshine the pot gets.

    Absolutely would buy again
    Color: Orange
I love this, my pup loves this. Strong, sturdy. Shakes all over the place. Pup loves to chew on it, I think the vibration comforts her gums from teething. Perfect size You must take the outer skin off and pop open the white power button to charge it. Total fun!

Rubber blue cover won't come off.
    Color: Orange
If you want to keep the blue cover on that your dog chews off every other ball that is similar, get this one. Most dogs will not chew it off. It stretches when the chew on it so it can't be chewed or stretched off the ball. I've got a blind dog and she will kick it around for an hour at a time. It keeps her active and having fun.

    Nice, but...
    Color: Orange
It's a good idea & keeps my 1yr old Staffy/Pit occupied, BUT... The rubber around the ball is either too easy to chew through or my pup is just an aggressive chewer. Either way, it's a plus that it does come with an additional rubber, but it would be nice to also be able to buy additional ones vs having to buy the whole toy again & again! Oh, & if you think about letting them play with it without the rubber please be on the lookout for the rubber covering where you would charge it because my pup managed to locate & destroy that cover piece as well haha!

    Entertains my husky!
After some research, I decided on this interactive toy for my young husky. I chose it over others because I liked that it was wrapped in a silicone cover so it wouldn't be as hard on her teeth, or my floors. It also seems to have helped with durability. She's never had this sort of automated toy before to engage with and it surprised her at first, but then she really got into it: pawing and nosing and sometimes howling at it. I was worried it would drive her and/or me crazy, but so far so good. She will play with it for a good 10 minutes at a time and it seems to provide some good mental stimulation since it rolls and spins unpredictably. It is easy to charge and was ready to use right out of the box. It has proved durable in the first week surviving my crazy pup and multiple trips down the stairs. I am also happy to report that it has worked pretty well on the carpet/rug areas of the home. It should work pretty well unless you have a very thick shag carpet. We'll see how long it lasts, but highly recommend so far.
