Octoploid is the brainchild of Amorphis-Bassist Olli-Pekka ‘Oppu’ Laine. Having a lengthy history as a songwriter himself, it’s been a long term ambition to dive deep into a pool of musical elements and melt them together into what culminated as his new band’s debut work “Beyond The Aeons”. Mixing many different styles may seem a far stretch, but all these musical vibes, that also attracted several illustrious guest musicians to contribute their special touches, end up blending together in a well-rounded sonic cast.

Combining elements from folk, prog and Death Metal, “Beyond The Aeons” is an epitome of Octoploid's sound and band leader Olli-Pekka Laine's musical influences. Being able to shine not only by lending the album his signature bass-grooves in this formation, but also additional keyboard, guitar and vocal parts, Oppu is joined by bandmates Mikko Pietinen (drums), Peter Salonen (guitars) and Kim Rantala (keyboards), with Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow The Sun-vocalist) taking on lead vocals for live activities.

Great weird horror
Format: Kindle
The Department of Truth: The End of the World is the first trade volume of this series, collecting issues 1-5. I don’t want to get into spoilers, but I enjoyed seeing a world building element I was familiar with in fantasy be applied to conspiracy theories. I also loved the art. It’s really stunning! I almost want to buy a print edition in addition to my Kindle/ComiXology edition because it’s so beautiful. I found the plot and concept compelling and can’t wait to read volume 2.

meh...
Format: Paperback
collecting the entire universe, so obviously i picked this up. i absolutely LOVE the stuff written by Ryan Parrott, but it seems like the some of the side stories were just thrown into the universe for the sake of 'diversity'. identity politics is injected into BOTH of the books in this series (that i have read so far... im somewhere in the middle of year two) that were written by Melissa Flores, for no reason except projection, propaganda and forced diversity quotas. the book isnt even an extreme offender or anything, but the 'community' has caused so many problems, in ever facet of society that they have attached themselves to, that i (and so many others) now see any of it as huge red flag... and that is sad, because i was raised to have the EXACT opposite viewpoint, and i did, for well over 30 years (just turned 40).
