Aquaforest AF Bio Sand is used to establish a biologically active sand bed in new saltwater aquariums and can also serve as a substrate supplement in mature tanks.

Aquaforest Bio Sand is the perfect way to kickstart a new saltwater aquarium by providing a biologically active sand bed on which to build the perfect reefscape! This natural, white sand is free from any contaminants and derived from the highest quality deposits. Its calcium carbonate content serves as a buffer to help stabilize water chemistry, while the included bottled nitrifying bacteria helps to facilitate and nourish your aquarium’s biological filter. Although ideal for new aquariums, AF Bio Sand will also work perfectly well in mature tanks as a substrate supplement.

Preparation:

Rinse the sand in RODI water before use. Pour the contents of both bacteria bottles into 3 liters of saltwater, mix thoroughly, and then add to the clean sand in bag & leave for 24 hours. Leave the bag unclosed and in an area around 77-82°F for 24 hours.Add sand gradually into the tank (small amounts day by day) and monitor parameter changes.
