First introduced in 1976, the Music Man StingRay Special has been around for a while, earning its place in the studio, on stage, and in the hands of countless players. For 2026, the StringRay has returned with modernized features for today's players while still calling back to its vintage counterpart.

Crafted from solid ash, the double-cutaway bass has received updated, newly refined body contours. These rounded contours provide plenty of comfort during longer play sessions, sitting, or standing. Loaded into the black pickguard, a single humbucking pickup with Neodymium magnets amplifies the bass's voice. With more output power and headroom, the StingRay delivers across multiple genres. Powering it all, a 18-volt preamp provides plenty of juiced up power for a wide range of punchy sounds. Tone can further be sculpted with the 3-band EQ.

Bolted to the body with 5 screws, a roasted maple neck with a sculpted neck joint is secured to the body. Improved access to the upper frets paired with its easy-going "C" shape neck profile makes for an exceptional playing experience. Its maple fretboard is crowned with 22 stainless steel frets and is adorned with black dot inlays for fret markers.

Lightweight, high quality chrome hardware keeps the StingRay Special playing its best. The strings are loaded through the vintage Music Man top loaded bridge and rest in the compensated nut slots before being strung to pitch with open gear tuning machines.

Complete with a Mono softshell case, the StringRay Special is back like never before.
