Care

General Maintenance: Prune any unhealthy leaves. If your alocasia is potted ouside and hit by frost, prune yellow leaves back to the base of the plant. They are susceptible to bacterial and fungal infections. Keep an eye out for crown, stem, and root rot. Avoid getting water directly onto the leaves.

Temperature: Average temperatures between 16ºC - 26ºC are ideal for this plant. They will go dormant in any tempurature below 16ºC.

Light: Needs bright conditions, but no direct sun as this can burn the leaves.

Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist during the growing season. Water less in the winter. These plants are very sensitive to root rot and will not tolerate overly wet soil.

Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced fertilizer every 2 weeks during the growing season (May-Aug) and stop during the other months.

Soil: Nutrient-rich and well-draining soil. These plants prefer a loose mix. Can add pumice or perlite to improve drainage, and coco coir to improve water retention for these moisture loving plants.
